Peking University, the former Jing Shi Da Xue Tang (the Metropolitan University) of the Qing Dynasty, was founded in December 1898. The Metropolitan University was then not only the most prestigious institution of higher learning but also the highest administrative organization of education in China.

Peking University is now a comprehensive and national key university. While still laying stress on basic sciences, the university has paid special attention to the development of applied sciences. It strives not only for the simultaneous improvements in teaching and research work, but also for the promotion of interaction and mutual promotion among various subjects.

Guanghua School of Management: A school of vitality

Founded in 1993, Guanghua School of Management (GSM) is one of the most active institutes at Peking University in both research and professional training. GSM’s mission is to provide business students, corporate executives, and business leaders with world-class management education and executive training.

GSM is composed of 10 departments and has programs ranging from academic programs including undergraduate, master, regular Ph.D and international Ph.D (IPHD), to non-academic programs including MBA, International MBA (IMBA), EMBA and Executive Development Program (EDP). Half of GSM’s faculty received their Ph.D degree from prestigious universities in North America and Europe. Publications by the faculty members have started to appear in international top-tier journals.

GSM has established strong academic and professional connections with various institutions throughout the world, such as the Kellogg Graduate School, INSEAD, ESSEC, the Wharton School, the Fuqua School of Management and Stanford Business School.
