The AIB is incorporated as a charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax deductible in the United States and in certain other countries. AIB solicits funds from AIB members, corporations, and other sources for its charitable causes.

Under AIB's charter, these funds may be used for a wide variety of purposes: student scholarships, faculty fellowships, research grants, travel grants, doctoral dissertation grants, and publications subsidies around the world. Based on AIB's mission, emphasis is placed upon the funding of projects which would advance research and education in international business around the world. The Executive Board solicits inquiries and proposals for funding consonant with this overall sense of direction.

AIB also accepts bequests from the estates of members and others who desire to make such contributions. Generally, smaller contributions can be made directly to AIB for inclusion into its regular charitable operating budget. Larger donations may be made to establish named funds to memorialize an individual or organization, with the proceeds of the fund to be used in perpetuity for designated purposes.
