AIB Fellow - Lee C. Nehrt
An engineering degree from the USCG Academy was followed by a Diplome from the Institute d’ Etudes Politiques of the University of Paris and an MBA and PhD from Columbia University.
Academic appointments were: Indiana University, 1962-74, (Assistant to Full Professor of International Business); Wichita State University, 1974-78 (R.P. Clinton Professor in International Management); Ohio State University, 1981-86 (Owens Illinois Professor of International Management).
Academic Administration was as Director of the World Trade Institute, World Trade Center, NYC.
Publications include the following books: (1) Foreign Marketing of Nuclear Power Plants – 1965; (2) Financing Capital Equipment Exports – 1966; (3) International Finance for Multinational Business – 1967; (4) International Business Research: Past, Present and Future, with Richard Wright and Fred Truitt – 1969; (5) The Political Climate for Private Investment in North Africa – 1970; (6) Managerial Strategy for the Middle East, (in Arabic) with Ali El Salmi – 1972; (7) Managerial Policy and Strategy for S.E. Asia, with Lamp Li – 1973; (8) Managerial Strategy in an Asian Context, with Emanuel Soriano – 1974.
Publications also include the following monographs: (1) Education sin International Busines, with Steve Robock – 1963; (2) Business and International Education (ed.) – 1977; (3) The Internationalization of the Business School Curriculum, - 1979; (4) The Political and Economic Analysis of Countries, - 1981.
AIB Activities: Became a member in 1960. Served as Vice President from 1967-69; served as President from 1972-74. Served as the first Dean of the Fellows of the Academy from 1978-1981.
Overseas work experience included: (1) Ford Foundation Adviser to the Minister of Trade and Finance, Government of Tunisia – 1965-67; (2) Ford Foundation Adviser to the President of Dhaka University, E. Pakistan – 1969-71; (3) USAID Adviser to the Ministry of Planning, Government of Indonesia, 1986-89.
Other overseas experience was serving as a consultant to the UNDP, UNIDO and the World Bank, on 2 to 4 week missions to 18 different countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
