There are a limited number of travel stipends available for doctoral students and area scholars (this year, scholars from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Central Asian Republics qualify). Please find the relevant information below, in the respective section for each award. If you're not eligible for one of these two categories, we regret to inform you that no other financial support is available through AIB for this year's conference.

The Executive Board is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of stipends of US$500 each to help doctoral student members attend the conference.

These stipends are available for full-time Ph.D. students who plan to attend the Doctoral Consortium and/or have a paper accepted for presentation at the meeting.

Recipients of the stipends will be expected to assist the conference organizers for about ten hours during the conference.

To apply, send the following items to the address below to arrive by April 1, 2004:

1. copy of your doctoral consortium and/or paper acceptance message,
2. a signed letter of recommendation from your advisor,
3. letter of application stating your specific need for financial support,
4. copy of your one-page resume.

The Executive Board of the Academy has decided to grant a limited number of fellowships for the 2004 meeting to faculty members from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Central Asian Republics, regions that are traditionally under-represented in our membership. Therefore, we have the pleasure of offering business schools in one of these regions a fellowship comprising:

• one free registration (including most meals)
• a stipend of $500 to help defray travel and hotel expenses
• two years of AIB membership

In order to take advantage of this offer, the dean or director of the school must nominate a member of their faculty who is currently not an AIB member.

To apply, please send by fax (1-517-432-1009) and email ( ) the following items, written in English, to Dr. Marjorie Lyles, Vice President of Administration by April 1, 2004:

• a letter of nomination signed by the dean or director of the institution
• a completed conference registration form (write "Area Scholar Application" in payment section)
• one page resume of the nominated faculty member
