This award, initially called the "AIB Service Award" and then the "AIB President's Award", was created to recognize outstanding service to AIB and/or the field of international business. On April 6, 2008, the AIB Exectuive Board passed a resolution to rename the award in John H. Dunning's honor to recognize his distinguished career in the field of international business and his contributions to AIB. The award is traditionally presented by the Immediate Past-President.
